Mesotopos is located at the south part of West Lesvos and is built on the slopes bare volcanic hills that are creatured of large volcanic crater in the geological past. It is only 78Km away from Mytilene. Mesotopos can fairly be described cradle of lesbian popular culture and is known throughout the island for the exceptional craftsmen.

Just a few kilometers from Eressos is Mesotopos, with the picturesque port of Tavari and the golden beaches of Chrousso and Podara. It is a traditional village with narrow streets and houses with tiled roofs. Its inhabitants are mainly occupied with agriculture and animal husbandry, processing agricultural products and tourism.

Mesotopos is known for its carnival and cheese products. The last Sunday of Carnival is called the carnaval of Mesotopos, the attendees share the traditional pumpkin pie made from the hands of households in the village. The event monitors many friends of the village who come from all parts of the island. Revivals of traditions such as the reception of August with lighting – leap of fire and cultural events are also in Mesotopos.

Tavari, the port of Mesotopos, is located 2 km south of the village and is a picturesque seaside village with sandy beach and a small port that hosts the fishing boats in the area. The area has many cottages mainly residents of Mesotopos and several rental rooms.

The Chrousos beach is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches on Lesvos with crystal clear waters. Do not forget to visit it. East of Tavari, located 1.5 km away, is the sandy Podaras beach. It has an impressive landscape with volcanic rocks surrounding the small fertile plains.

Tavari, the port of Mesotopos, is located 3.4 km south of the village and has a picturesque sandy beach and a small port that hosts the fishing boats in the area. It also has a number of restaurants on the beach to which it owes its popularity. The beach has fine sand and crystal clear waters and there is a lots going on during the summer months.

 Chrousos

A dirt road leads to the Chrousos beach, starting from Tavari and moving west. This is a wide sandy beach, the most beautiful beach of Lesvos, with clear water and sheltered from northerly winds. Graphic restaurants and taverns are hidden in the wooded area, offering delicious snacks for the summer visitors who want to escape the crowded beaches.

 Podaras

1 km east of Tavari is the Podaras beach. It has an impressive landscape with volcanic rocks surrounding the fertile valley formed by the stream of Podaras. It has a long and wide beach and is an ideal destination for swimming.
